So, the kinds of things getting Cardano done, the kinds of things that are related to that roadmap of Shelley, Basho, Voltaire, and Goguen, and then continuity is just kind of the daily affairs, better, faster, cheaper, less memory consumption, improvements, API enhancements, all these types of things that form a backlog.
And, we should have a complete set of candidate specs either by the end of this quarter or by the middle of next quarter. Then, there will be a convergence of specifications between the two clients. Then, there's going to be a period of reconciliation. There are a few things we're also going to do, some Goguen related specification at the same time because it's low hanging fruit, so we're...
...going to create a specification for extended UTXO, and also for multi-asset accounting. That means that those are the asset issuances, our ERC20, and then there are a few other little things. The sidechain specification which will come as well is a prerequisite for Goguen, but we also want to get it out the door because the sidechain's model gives us super-efficient lilightte clients.
...this frees me up to do things like build partnerships, and also allows me to think about more significant, bigger features in the system. This is particularly the case as we begin entering the era of Goguen and subsequent years, which will include governance features and so forth. These are coming faster than you might think, and we need to start working on them now if we want to ship them within a reasonable period.
They also, they can act as bridges for Interledger, which is a protocol from Ripple. We'll look at these things and, you know, we'll probably roll them out as soon as Shelley and Goguen are around because we'll have enough capability in the ledger. It'll be fairly straightforward to do that. Now, closely related to interoperability is a discussion about metadata. This is really, really, really important.
...with his team, extending our specs so that we have that. Then, we can easily roll those into the Cardano Chain in anticipation of the launch of Goguen on the wallet back-end team. After we have the Icarus-style addresses, the next thing in our pipeline is hardware wallet support and multisig. This will happen alongside all the API enhancements that need to be done for Cardano, for Shelley.
...the next six months, we're going to be focusing only on enriching the terminal support in preparation for Goguen. Since you'll be able to deploy smart contracts from the command line in the wallet, we need to ensure that there's a good experience there. We've learned a lot from our own experiences and from Mallet, the minimal wallet interface that we created for Cardano CL, and we just need to continue doing so.
But because we're looking at pluggable consensus with an existing, very mature Scala based code base. This means that we probably can accelerate our test net plans for Goguen, our smart contract layer.
